Until we come to a time where we will face a Lil Wayne/Drake/2 Chainz/Future/Wocka Flocka/Gucci Mane/Rick Ro$$/Lil B/Soulja Boy/New Boyz collaboration album (that might bring about the apocalypse) we'll all just have to suffer through each "artist" and their material individually. One of those rappers, the artistically worthless entity who for some reason goes by the name of Future, released a song called "Missing" a few months ago and it baffles me how anyone could consider this guy a viable rapper in the industry. It is simply one of the worst songs I have ever heard on par with songs from any of the other rappers I just mentioned, and I don't know exactly what to say about it.
Slightly more terrible than many of today's silly and over-produced deathcore and metalcore, this new wave of rappers is stifling me with their atrocious attempts at making music that's supposed to be cool and appealing. The plastic beats, lazy/awkward flows, horrendous use of autotune and subterranean-grade punchlines that were established by Lil Wayne has caught on and now the face of modern hip-hop is polluted with all these little talentless scumbags. Banality is what it really is. This music acts like that old sandwich in your fridge; it's moldy, puke green, smells beyond terrible and you don't want to deal with it, but you really can't ignore it any longer. I honestly watch some of these music vids like the one above just so I can appreciate my music more, so in that sense, atrocities like this serve a purpose.
Well, shit, what can I say now? I guess Future really does have a place in our modern musical environment after all. There can't be good without bad, so we must have stuff like Lil Wayne and his Cash Money empire to put things into perspective for us all. Thanks, shitty musicians! We are thankful! But still, I'm sorry for that music video at the top of this page. Here's a palette cleanser.
