If there's one reason why I love www.metalsucks.net, it's because whenever Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine says just about anything, I get to know about it first. Thanks Axl and Vince! And why anything? Because just about anything Dave says these days is face-palm worthy or eyebrow raising depending on who you are, or it could be both.
It's well known now that Mustaine is a born again Christian, but unfortunately he fits into the category of Christians who don't care so much about faith and as they do about using their Christian beliefs to push a political agenda, or at least that's how it seems. He's pretty much adopted every conservative Christian stance: anti-Obama, anti-evolution, anti-gay marriage, etc...but seriously, I don't care one bit.
Dave's frustratingly ignorant conservative Christian statements over the last couple years have absolutely no effect on my love for Killing is My Business, which is one of the most badass musical documents in metal history. Can't people just ignore the bullshit? This raises the question of whether context matters in music. In this case, I don't think it does because Mustaine's political stances don't take over the metal, which will let us all breathe a little easier listening to it. Now if only someone like Kanye West can allow us to look at his music without context and drama permeating over everything, we'll be getting somewhere with big name musical acts.
